We simply strive to give peace to kids!
KidsPeace was founded in 1882 as an interim care facility for children whose families were in crisis as a result of a smallpox epidemic. Through two world wars, the Great Depression and other threats to families, KidsPeace has served the needs of children in crisis. KidsPeace currently offers a continuum of care for children unmatched by any other organization in America. This includes an acute care inpatient psychiatric hospital, residential treatment centers, therapeutic foster care, schools, outpatient clinics, and a child development and therapeutic recreation center.
Foster Care and Community Programs (FCCP) has been providing therapeutic foster care services to children since 1979. Over the years, about 4000 kids have benefited from the care provided by FCCP, which teaches youth to face their psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues and relate successfully with their families and others within the community. The FCCP program has grown to 36 sites in Pennsylvania, Maine, Indiana, Georgia, New York, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Washington D.C. FCCP is a community/family-based approach to treating children who are capable of appropriately using community resources when placed in a foster family setting. We offer initial out-of-home placement as well as community reintegration from more restrictive settings. Children are carefully matched with treatment families who have undergone intensive screening and training. Treatment services to children and families are team driven, strength based, and designed to meet the individual needs of each child who enters the program.
