Canoe Creek State Park
Canoe Creek State Park, 12 miles east of Altoona, is a modern day state park. This facility was dedicated in 1979 during the Project 70 expansion era of state parks. This scenic 958-acre park has many picnic areas, hiking trails, cabin facilities, educational programs, and much more. A 155-acre lake within the park provides fishing year round, has a swimming area, and allows boats propelled by electric trolling motors only. The wetlands, forests, and fields amongst the park are excellent habitats for the many wildlife, migrating birds, and is home to one of the largest bat colonies in the county.
