Spring 2013 at Canoe Creek State Park
Canoe Lake at Canoe Creek State Park was lowered about five feet to allow for construction during the off season this year. The lake was lowered in October for the construction and is to remain at the reduced level until mid March 2013.
During a beautiful early spring day we stopped by Canoe Creek State Park and gathered some photographs of the lake at the lowered levels. Improvements are being made all around the lake, including the swimming area, fishing habitats and bridges around the lake. According to Park Representatives:
"When our park's beach area reopens next spring, visitors will find new easily accessible ramps and sidewalks leading to the lake that provide safe, enjoyable swimming to those with special needs," "Anglers, meanwhile, should be delighted to learn that there will also be a variety of fish habitat improvement and shoreline restoration and access projects at Canoe Lake."
We also walked along the limestone trail to the historic Limestone Kilns and collected some photos of the kilns and trail. This is a very nice walking trail, easily accesible to people and their pets, as was evidenced by the numerous people and their faithful companions that we passed along the way. If you are looking for a nice walking trail Canoe Creek State Park should be on your list.
