2nd Annual Wing Festival at American Legion Park
Judging by the size of the crowds at the first ever Wing Festival at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg, PA it was a great success. Thousands of Altoona and Blair County area residents showed up to taste the delicious wings from area vedors like; Hotel Belmar, Pellegrines, Cobras Lounge, and the Hollidaysburg American Legion.
The Wing Festival at Hollidaysburg Legion Park is operated by the Hollidaysburg American Legion Post 21st District. The 2nd Annual Wing Festival will be held every Thursday July 11, 2013 to Aug. 15, 2013 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Wing vendors from various area taverns and restaurants will be selling wings of many different flavors at this years event. There will also be Funnel Cake, Lemonade, Ice Cream, Hot Dog, French Fry, and Sausage Vendors at this years Wing Festival. This year the American Legion has built three 30 x 60 Pavillions to house the Hollidaysburg Wing Festival. Last year tents were rented for the event making it a weather permitting event, plus the cost to rent the tents was very expensive. The American Legion decided to build these pavillions allowing for a more stable structure for the wing festival, plus giving the Blair County community access to renting the pavillions for different events.
There is no fee to enter the Wing Festival and parking is free too. You pay for your own wings, food and beverages. If you plan on drinking any beer at the Wing Festival, bring you driver's license. Everyone 21 and over who plans on drinking beer needs to show their driver's license. Your license is swiped and you will be given a bracelet to wear. You can purchase beer tokens at the entrance to the wing festival. All bartenders are Ramp Certified. Furrer Beverage is the beer distributor for the American Legion Wing Festival. There will be entertainment provided each week from different area musicians. Live entertainment is from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Felix and the Hurricanes will be performing the first Thursday, July 11, 2013. This is an event that can be fun for the whole family. The wing festival events are set up to help benefit the American Legion's children and youth programs. Come out for a great evening of delicious wings, beer, beverages, and live entertainment every Thursday for 6 weeks starting on July 11, 2013.
